Graphene - What Is It? | Graphenea
Understanding graphene. Graphene is a single layer (monolayer) of carbon atoms, tightly bound in a hexagonal honeycomb lattice. It is an allotrope of carbon in the form of a plane of sp2-bonded atoms with a molecular bond length of 0.142 nanometres.
Graphene growth on metal surfaces | MRS Bulletin ...
This feature also causes graphene to grow on metal substrates through mechanisms that are strikingly different from those of conventional heteroepitaxy. We provide here a brief review of graphene growth on metals, a subject with a rich history even before the recent explosion of interest in graphene. The current activities related to graphene ...
Monolayer and/or Few-Layer Graphene on Metal or …
Transfer of graphene layers may be accomplished by any of a plurality of techniques which may include, for example, oxide overgrowth and removal of the transition metal substrate by etching, or by intercalating a material between a first graphene layer covalently bonded to the transition metal and the metal and then removing the graphene layer.

2019-1-11 · We also extract a transport "scattering rate", which satisfies a near Planckian form that is universally related to the ratio of $(k_BT/\hbar)$. Our results establish magic-angle bilayer graphene as a highly tunable platform to investigate strange metal behavior, which could shed light on this mysterious ubiquitous phase of correlated matter.

Rational synthesis of atomically precise graphene ...
Atomically precise nanographenes and nanoribbons have been synthesized on metal surfaces that catalyze cyclode-hydrogenation of precursors. However, for use in devices, these structures usually must be transferred to insulating or semiconducting surfaces. Kolmer et al. synthesized precise graphene nanoribbons on the surface of rutile titanium dioxide (TiO2) that assisted the cyclode ...

Doping graphene with metal contacts - PubMed
Making devices with graphene necessarily involves making contacts with metals. We use density functional theory to study how graphene is doped by adsorption on metal substrates and find that weak bonding on Al, Ag, Cu, Au, and Pt, while preserving its unique electronic structure, can still shift the Fermi level with respect to the conical point by approximately 0.5 eV.
Accurate Graphene-Metal Junction Characterization - …
2019-1-11 · Abstract: A reliable method is proposed for measuring specific contact resistivity (p C) for graphenemetal contacts, which is based on a contact end resistance measurement. We investigate the proposed method with simulations and confirm that the sheet resistance under the metal contact (R SK) plays an important role, as it influences the potential barrier at the graphene-metal junction.

Controlling graphene plasmons with resonant metal …
To create nanophotonic devices, engineers must combine large-scale optics with tiny nanoelectronics. Plasmons, the collective light-induced excitations of electrons at a metal's surface, can bridge that difference in size scales. Alonso-Gonzalez et al. placed structured gold “antennas” on top of a graphene layer to launch and propagate plasmonic excitations into the graphene.
